Rockand man accused of possessing child pornography

    ROCKLAND — A Rockland man was arrested Friday, June 23, following an investigation by the Rockland Police Department and Maine Computer Crimes Task Force. 

    Daniel Wescott, 26, of Rockland, was charged with three counts of possession of sexually explicit material, according to a news release from Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan.

    Rockland Police Detective Sergeant Joel Neal had seized computers from Wescott’s home. A search of the computers by the Maine Computer Crimes Task Force revealed multiple images and videos of children, appearing to be between the ages of 6 and 12, engaging in sexual acts with adults and other children. 

    Wescott is currently being held at the Knox County Jail, and has not bailed as of Saturday morning, June 24.

    The date for his initial court appearance has not yet been confirmed.
