LINCOLNVILLE — Robin Silverton passed away June 27, 2015, in her beloved home in Lincolnville.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1937 to Pauline and Wilfred Bernard "Bernie" Richland, Robin Silverton lived most of her life in New York City, with a brief sojourn in Puerto Rico, where her husband served in the Army. In 1969 Robin and Mike bought a country home in Lincolnville, where they summered with their two children. The experience left its mark.

Her love of Maine brought her back to Lincolnville in 2006, her dream, to live in an antique Cape similar to the house in which she vacationed annually on Cape Cod with her parents and her sister. Robin found her charming country home, where she happily tended her gardens, talking to and feeding little visitors. She awarded her chipmunks with names. A rabbit, "Bunny," visited daily, only to depart after Robin's death.

Being of tender heart and exuberant personality, Robin made friends wherever she went. As a Mainer by adoption she passed happy hours meandering in downtown Camden, visiting with shop owners and reading in the library. Robin had a passion for books and read as many as seven a week. One of her favorite pastimes was perusing the New York Times. But her greatest pleasure in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed telling them she loved them more than anything. If they insisted they loved her more than that, she'd reply that she loved them the most. The kids couldn't win.

A Fashion Institute of Technology graduate, Robin majored in textile design. She worked for several years at Norcross Cards, where she became a specialist in gift-wrap displays. Her elegantly crafted designs appeared in a number of upscale Manhattan department store windows. Later in life she worked for the New York Law Journal and subsequently New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs under the administration of Mayor Abraham Beam. The occupation from which she retired to Maine was that of a real estate agent in her Brooklyn Park Slope neighborhood.

Robin's ebullience and winning personality touched all who knew and loved her.

Robin is survived by her children, Alexandra Uhll and Seth Silverton; and her grandchildren, Hannah and Jack Uhll, and AJ and Emma Silverton.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Vesper Hill Chapel in Rockport, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

If desired, memorial gifts in Robin's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Inc., P.O. Box 2151, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-2151 or to the Camden Public Library, 55 Main Street, Camden, ME 04843.

Arrangements are with Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
