Richard Eugene Ulmer, 82, of Belfast, passed away at Eastern Maine Medical Center on Tuesday, June 27. He was born in Arlington, Virginia, to Roy and Dorothy Ulmer and was the older of two children. His sister, Marion Elizabeth Stewart predeceased him in 2007.

Richard graduated from Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C. and later attended the University of Virginia where he was an avid football and rugby player. Upon graduation, Richard worked in banking and investments and was an avid golfer. Upon moving to Belfast in the mid-1980s, Richard was active in the Catholic Church and Northport Golf Club.

He leaves behind his nephew, great-nephew and great-niece: Bruce Douglas Stewart, Will Douglas Stewart and Lilly Marion Stewart. The Family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff of Harbor Hills Nursing home for their compassionate care and professionalism.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday July 14, at 2 p.m. at St Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Court Street, in Belfast. A reception will follow at Darby's Restaurant at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richard's name to Gonzaga High School.
