Rev. Ronald E. Carver, obituary

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Rev. Ronald E. Carver, 85, died Oct. 11, 2012, after a brief period of declining health.

Born in Owls Head Jan. 24, 1927, he was the son of John and Harriet Moorlan Carver.

Educated in local schools, he enlisted in the U.S. Army prior to graduating from high school. Following his discharge, he graduated from Rockland High School with the class of 1945. He then attended and graduated from Providence Bible Institute of Rhode Island, Fuller Theological Seminary and Taylor University in Indiana.

On Aug. 19, 1950, he married Constance Hatch in Brunswick.

He was ordained at the First Baptist Church in Rockland Nov. 9, 1956, with the Revs. Charles McDonald and Ed Barram officiating. He served churches in Bristol, Vt., Claremont, N.H., Tarrytown, N.Y. and Everett, Mass. He also taught college in Burlington, Vt.

In 1994, he retired to Leesburg, Fla.

The Rev. Carver was predeceased by an infant daughter; and two brothers, John Wiley and Robert Carver. He is survived by his wife, Connie, of Leesburg; three daughters, Linda Rigall and her husband, Rick, of Drum, Penn., Shanese Gempf and her husband, Conrad, of London, England; and Freya Fickett and Dan of Monmouth; two sons, John H. Carver and Brett Carver of Los Angelos, Calif.; one brother, Horace Benner and his wife, Gloria, of Rockland; sisters-in-law, Mildred Willey and Helen Carver, both of Owls Head; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Rigall, Jeremy Rigall, Craig Rigall, Kathryn Gempf, Alistair Gempf, Shane Pickett and India Rose Pickett; and eight great great-grandchildren, Iliana, Jaron, Tobias, Emma, Abigail, Micah, Saralyn, and Ryder.

A memorial service was held Oct. 16 in Lake Harris, Fla.
