BROOKS — Rena E. (Elwell) Parent, 79, of Brooks, passed away Sept. 9, 2014, in Belfast. She was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Brooks, the daughter of George and Bertha (Curtis) Elwell.

In her early years, Rena loved to dance. She was also self-taught on many instruments and loved music. Rena was known for her flowers and loved gardening, quilting and traveling, especially to Arizona. Rena also loved going out to eat at least once a day. Her family will remember her competitive spirit playing Jeopardy. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Edgar Parent; and her sister, Ann Ward. She is survived by her loving children, Colby Crossman and his significant other, Kelly Tarrant, of Taunton, Mass., Cinda Young of Brooks and Cary Crossman and his wife, Michelle, of Taunton, Mass.; her siblings, Edward Elwell and his wife, Ruby, Avis Bradford and her husband, Earl, and Georgia Trask and her husband, Ronnie; her grandchildren, Carrie Plentus, Danielle, Daniel, Deborah and Erin Crossman; her great-grandson, Chase Kinney; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. at Maine Veterans Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta.
