ROCKLAND - Reino William Greenrose, 80, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2016.

Born in Rockland on June 1, 1936, he was the son of John and Hazel McIntyre Greenrose. Reino grew up in West Rockport and lived in the Midcoast area throughout his adult life.

Reino spent most of his career in the construction industry. Most notable was his tenure with George Hall Inc., which spanned many years until his retirement. He had a great sense of pride and accomplishment in the projects he completed throughout the community. He was often told by many coworkers he could run the “dozer” like no other.

In addition to his passion for the bulldozer, he had a passion for music. Reino was well known for his musical talents with the keyboard; although he played many instruments, the keyboard was his favorite. Reino was known as the One Man Band; playing in the Lobster Festival and many other parades, as well as fairs and special commissioned events. Additionally, Reino was part of a band that entertained at local churches and soup kitchens.

Reino was a proud second generation Finnish-American from a Finnish immigrant. He was a member of the Finnish Heritage House in South Thomaston, where he shared his musical talents and heritage during times of festivities.

During retirement, Reino enjoyed gardening as well as painting folk style artwork, always looking for ways to stay busy and creative. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and good nature. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family.

Predeceased by his parents, John and Hazel; a brother, Oscar Greenrose; and a sister, Vera Townsend; Reino leaves behind his companion of many years, Mary Dearborn of Camden; his sons, Sidney Greenrose of Grand Rapids, Mich., Wesley Greenrose Sr. and his companion, Karen, of Waldoboro, Adam Greenrose of Rockland, and Mike Greenrose and his companion, Karen, of Waldoboro; his daughters, Melinda Greenrose of Rockland, and Colleen Boggs and her husband, Robin, of Warren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the staff at Clover Manor Healthcare in Auburn for the great care and compassion he received while residing there.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland.
