MONHEGAN ISLAND — The Maine Marine Patrol is investigating the circumstances around the drowning death Saturday morning of recreational diver, Anna Krowczynska, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Krowczynska, 61, was diving off the eastern tip of Monhegan Island in approximately 25 feet of water when she failed to return to the Lady Anne, a charter dive boat operated by Dave Sinclair, owner of Sea Ventures Charters of Wayne.

According to a news release from the Maine Marine Patrol, Krowczyska was among a party of five guided divers from Massachusetts.

After she failed to surface, another member of the party located her at approximately 12:15 p.m. and brought her to the surface where CPR was performed by members of the party. She was then transported to Port Clyde by the charter boat where she was met by local emergency medical personnel and the Maine Marine Patrol. She was subsequently pronounced dead.

The Maine Marine Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances around the drowning.
