CUSHING — Randy Maloney, 49, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2017, at his home. Born in Cushing on May 15, 1967, he was the son of Edward and Linda Simmons Maloney, and he grew up and lived his life in Cushing.

Randy was a 1986 graduate of George's Valley High School in Thomaston. After graduating, Randy lived his life as a full-time lobsterman. He became a father at a young age to a son who quickly became his entire world. He spent his free time with his son, teaching him “the ropes” of life. He loved the freedom of being on the water and spending hours with his boys, big brother, and nephews while hunting for that one great buck. He loved his Ford trucks and there was no doubt in his mind that Fords were No. 1. One of his many passions was playing softball with his boys, teaching them the No. 1 rule of softball or any sport was “winning.”

He loved country music, which he often sang on the VHF while aboard his boat, Shelby Lynn. All his fellow fisherman enjoyed this very much and will greatly miss hearing Randy singing.

As life went on, he was blessed with two more sons that would follow in his footsteps as his oldest did. His family values were one of his most admirable qualities, especially with the birth of his two granddaughters. He enjoyed living his life in a small coastal town. He had a sparkle in his eye and a mischievous grin like no other. His work ethic and family values were admired by many. His grandfather deeply instilled the values of hard work and the importance of family. Randy was a man that was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Reminiscing about her grandfather, Randy's granddaughter said; "My grampie was a handsome man." This says it all about Randy's life "hunting, fishing and loving every day."

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Clyde K. Maloney Sr. and Hester E. Maloney; and his father, Edward A. Maloney, all of Cushing; his brother, Daniel A. Maloney; and his maternal grandparents, Irving Simmons and Florence Simmons, all of Friendship. Randy is survived by his mother, Linda Maloney; three sons, Randy Maloney Jr. and his wife, Brittany, and their daughters, Saylor, Saydi and soon to be born River, and Dylan Maloney and Kavie Maloney; his brother, Robert Maloney Sr. and wife, Cheryl, all of Cushing; two sisters, Lori Mank of Cushing, and Tammy Sewell and her husband, James, of Warren; his nieces and nephews, Ashley Mank, and Robert and Ryan Maloney, all of Cushing, and James Sewell and Sophie Sewell, both of Warren; a great-niece, Adalyn Maloney; and a great-nephew, Daniel Maloney, both of Cushing; Randy's girlfriend, Renee Seacotte and her family, all of Cushing; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, May 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 23, at 2 p.m. at Thomaston Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cushing Recreation Department, 39 Cross Road, Cushing, ME 04563.
