Purse Project begins second annual collection campaign

The Purse Project begins its second annual collection campaign Monday, October 17.  Last year’s Purse Project collected over 190 purses filled with feminine hygiene and grooming products. These generously filled purses were primarily distributed among three organizations: New Hope for Women, Hospitality House, and AIO Food Pantry, where they were given to women and teens who are homeless or at-risk.

Overwhelmingly positive responses from these organizations and their clients led to our decision to repeat the Purse Project a second year. Those who wish to donate are asked to find a gently used purse, backpack, canvas bag, or even make-up bag and fill it with tampons or pads and other items that a women in-need might appreciate and find comforting.

Donations of filled purses will be accepted at Rheal Day Spa, 453 Main Street, Rockland from October 17-29. For guidelines or additional information, you may email Sharon Hobson at onelessworry.maine@gmail.com or phone Rheal Day Spa at 207-594-5077.

Alternately, people may wish to contribute tampons, pads or financial donations to the year-round work of ensuring women and teens have the feminine hygiene products they need. These donations are always welcome at Rheal Day Spa.
