ROCKLAND – Priscilla A. Havener, 76, died peacefully on Jan. 12, 2017, following a period of declining health, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in St. George on Oct. 27, 1940, she was the daughter of Edward and Frances Harriman Curtis. Educated locally, she attended Rockland High School.

In 1958, Priscilla married Wendall W. Havener in Rockland. For over 58 years they have been side by side, sharing the ups and downs of life.

Following high school Priscilla worked for many years with F.J. O'Hara fish processing plant. Changing careers, she began as a store clerk, first at IGA in Rockland and later at Crossroads Market. While at Crossroads, she was known for her dry sense of humor and loved “razzing” her regular customers. After 15 years at Crossroads, Priscilla worked for Walmart before her retirement.

Aside from her family, which she loved spending time with, Priscilla loved nothing more than taking trips to the casinos; as long as someone would pick her up, she was ready to go anywhere. She spent countless lunch hours playing cards with the women she worked with and loved going to bingo.

Priscilla would do anything to help others in needs. The neighborhood kids always knew where to turn for a place to stay or a hot meal. She was known by many as “Ma.”

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by a sister, Gloria Coolbroth; a brother, Donald Curtis; a granddaughter, Morgan Wadsworth; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Havener; Priscilla is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wendall W. Havener; her daughter, Teresa Kaler of Rockland; her sons, William “Billy” Havener and his companion, Catherine Christie, of Rockport, and Wayne Havener and his companion, April Rawley, of Warren; a son-in-law, Robert Wadsworth; her grandchildren, William "Willie” Havener Jr., Sarah Havener, Santa Havener, Ashley Havener, Travis Havener and Jasmine; her great-grandchildren, Emilee, Lydia, Noah, Leland, Jerzey, Jeremiah, Gracelyn, Amiyah, Trey, Amelia, Dominic, Damon, Gabby, Adalyn, Leah and Riley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at 104 Limerock, adjacent to the funeral home. Interment will be held in the spring at Achorn Cemetery.
