BELFAST — Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said Monday that the body found floating in the Penobscot River in Stockton Springs April 13 was a Bangor man reported missing in November.

According to Trafton, a Stockton Springs resident called to report what appeared to be a body floating in the river Sunday morning. A deputy responded and confirmed the information, and the deceased male was recovered from the water by the Stockton Springs Fire Department.

The man, identified Monday as 46-year-old Cecil Worster, was reported missing to the Bangor Police Department Nov. 22. The identification was made by the state Medical Examiner’s Officer, which received the body Sunday.

“There is no indication at this point that Mr. Worster’s death is suspicious,” said Trafton in a press release.
