WALDOBORO — Planning for the 2014 season of Waldoboro Recreation Department's Adult Co-Ed fall softball league is well underway.

An informational meeting for all returning and prospective team captains will be held Monday, July 28 at 5 p.m. at the Waldoboro Town Office. Anyone desiring to enter a team is encouraged to attend.

Team registrations for the 2014 season, along with an entry fee of $20 per person, are due to the Waldoboro Recreation Department no later than Friday, August 8. The league is limited to 16 teams and both returning and Waldoboro-based teams will have first priority.

Games begin around the third week of August and conclude with playoffs scheduled for early October. Teams play twice per week on weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons at Medomak Valley High School, Medomak Middle School, Philbrook Field (AD Gray), the Waldoboro Little League Field and Friendship Recreation Field.

This is purely a recreational league for older adults with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying the game of softball. Participants must be at least 18-years-old to play and the average age of the game day lineup must be 33 years-old. Men must use league provided wooden bats and three woman must be in the field at all times.

Persons interested in entering a team should contact the Recreation Department as soon as possible.  Rules and registration forms are available at the Waldoboro Town Office or online at www.waldoboromaine.org.
