Pitch, Hit and Run competition a success

WALDOBORO — The 2017 local level Pitch, Hit and Run Competition, an event put on by Major League Baseball and presented by Scott’s, was held Sunday, May 21 at Charles “Chuck” Begley Field. 

The event is a free baseball and softball skills challenge that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in pitching, hitting and running with scores determined by individual performances in each skills event.

Below are the winners of each division and event: 

7/8 Boys Division 

  • Pitching – No qualifying score
  • Hitting – Eli Korenkiewicz (118 points)
  • Running – Eli Korenkiewicz (225 points) 
  • Overall – Eli Korenkiewicz (393 points)

9/10 Boys Division 

  • Pitching – Kory Donlin (150 points)
  • Hitting – Gabe Lash (274 points)
  • Running – Kory Donlin (309 points)
  • Overall – Gabe Lash (605 points)

11/12 Boys Division 

  • Pitching – Logan Look (225 points)
  • Hitting – Brady Carter (346 points)
  • Running – Brady Carter (344 points)
  • Overall – Brady Carter (765 points) 

13/14 Boys Division 

  • Pitching – No qualifying score
  • Hitting – Cole Wallace (312 points)
  • Running - Cole Wallace (337 points)
  • Overall - Cole Wallace (699 points)

7/8 Girls Division 

  • Pitching – Grace Havener (150 points)
  • Hitting – No qualifying score
  • Running – Grace Havener (183 points)
  • Overall – Grace Havener (383 points)

9/10 Girls Division 

  • Pitching – Arianna Sproul (75 points)
  • Hitting – No qualifying score
  • Running – Arianna Sproul (218 points)
  • Overall – Arianna Sproul (343 points)

The local champions will have the opportunity to participate in the sectional competition at Old Orchard Beach Recreation on Sunday, June 4. Overall champions from the sectional competition will have their scores compared against other sectional participants throughout New England for a chance to participate in the MLB team competition at Fenway Park.
