CAMDEN — When word got out there was a band of pirates sailing on a stolen pirate ship and skulking around Penobscot Bay, the Pirates of the Dark Rose headed to Camden and set up an encampment, just in case the Baggy Pants crew decided to sail in and invade the Windjammer Festival.

The Dark Rose pirates partied it up at Harbor Park, at the head of the harbor, but not before positioning a pair of cannons along the water’s edge. They also spent some time working with the locals, showing them how to use weapons in case they were needed to help defend the town.

Meanwhile, Camden Harbormaster Steve Pixley was maintaining radio contact with defense posts outside town, and kept the Dark Rose pirates and the locals apprised of the Baggy Pants pirates’ position and direction on their stolen vessel, the Must Roos.

Sure enough a two-masted vessel flying the black skill-and-crossbones, and had entered the inner harbor along the east channel. As they got close to the head of the harbor, they rafted up alongside the schooner Mary Day, and three Baggy Pants pirates disembarked onto the gangway and headed ashore.

Moments before, a cannon was fired off the Must Roos, signaling a parlay, and the Pirates of the Dark Rose fired back, three times, signaling they had no intent to give up and would fight if necessary.

Taking note, the Baggy Pants pirates walked into Harbor Park, their swords and muskets holstered at their sides, to share a drink with the Dark Rose pirates. A brief scuffle broke out, after one pirate insulted the other about a past girlfriend, but after a few sword swipes and jabs, both groups settled down and decided to work together, thanking the town for their hospitality.
