ROCKLAND — A Rockland woman was struck by a pickup truck as she crossed Park Street in a crosswalk near the intersection with Main Street. The accident occurred late Christmas Eve morning, Dec. 24, at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Rockland Police officer Scott Solorzano said Valerie Wells, 63, was struck by a truck being driven by Richard Morse, 54, of Wiscasset, after he made a left turn with a green light onto Park Street. Morse was heading north on Main Street. Morse immediately stopped his vehicle and rendered aid to Wells, who was eventually taken by a Rockland ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center for evaluation.

Solorzano said it was later determined that her injuries were not life-threatening.

According to Solorzano, heavy rain with darker light caused poor visibility at the time of the crash.

Officer Joel Neal also assisted at the scene of the accident.
