APPLETON — Phyllis M. Turner, 80, passed away on Sept. 24, 2016, at Quarry Hill in Camden. She was born in Rockland on Jan. 8, 1936, to Wesley and Venetta Callahan Snowdeal.

Phyllis grew up in the Burkettville-Appleton area and attended local Appleton schools. She held many jobs, including working as a nursing home attendant, in a poultry plant, raising kids and being a homemaker. She retired from Augusta Mental Health Institute, in Augusta, as a mental health care worker.

She liked to sew and made clothes, as well as knitting, crocheting, gardening and canning.

She was a very loving and caring lady who unselfishly helped others in need and administered tender loving care to family and friends.

Phyllis was a member of the Medomak Valley Grange in Appleton and attended the Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Elmer Turner; her sons, Tracey Turner and David Turner; her grandson, Travis Reynolds; her sisters, Hazel Shinner, Irma Littlefield and Nancy Phelps; and her brother, Lloyd Snowdeal.

Phyllis leaves behind her sons, Steven Turner and his companion, Bonnie Brann, of Washington, Robbin Turner and his wife, Donna, of Appleton, and Patrick Turner of Appleton; her daughters, Ella Rolerson and her husband, Gerald, of Appleton, Flora McLaughlin and her husband, Harold, of Gainesville, Fla., and Sunday Turner Bucklin of Belfast; her sisters, Crystal Davis and her husband, Claude, of Rockland, Barbara McDonald and her companion, Robert, of Florida, and Virginia Morrill of Virginia; her brothers, Bernard Snowdeal and his wife, Polly, of Rockland, and Louie Metcalf and his wife, Lillian, of Rockland; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service for Phyllis on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton, with the Rev. Warren Heath officiating.
