CUSHING – Patricia L. Young, 70, died peacefully Aug. 26, 2014, with her daughter at her side, following an extended period of declining health, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in New London, Conn., on Feb. 17, 1944, she was the daughter of Fred and Ruth Politti Moreash.

On July 8, 1970, Pat married her soul-mate, Maurice B. Young, in Shreveport, La. The two shared nearly 40 years of marriage before Mr. Young's death in 2009.

After moving to Maine, the two enjoyed countless hours metal detecting and panning for gold in Byron. Pat and Maurice were members of the Mainely Street Rods Car Club, and took great joy in attending the “cruise-ins.”

A caregiver at heart, Pat spent many years as a certified nursing assistant and certified residential medication aide, providing personal in-home care for many area families. Most recently she has enjoyed the many friendships she made while playing bingo in Waldoboro.

Family was Pat's number one priority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, and playing with them whenever she could.

She was predeceased by her husband; and two brothers, Edward Moreash and Fred Moreash. Pat is survived by her sons, Robert S. Young and Maurice D. Young and his companion, Teresa Lovejoy, all of Cushing; her daughter, Shirley Allen of Cushing; her grandsons, Joseph Ray of Sumter, S.C., Cole and Connor Allen and Thomas Young, all of Cushing; her sisters, Anna Beliek of Youngstown, Ohio, Vera Shaw of Providence, R.I., Shirley Jones of Sumter, S.C., and Gladys Mitchell and her husband, Stephen, of Cushing; and a brother, Harold Moreash of Ledgered, Conn.

A graveside celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. at Achorn Cemetery in Rockland. The Rev. Betty Bilodeau will officiate.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home
