CAMDEN — The Camden Public Library's annual October book sale coincides with the annual Harbor Arts & Books festival. The book sale, one of the most important fundraising events for the library every year, will be held under the tents on the library lawn on the weekend of October 3, 4, and 5.

There will be a preview sale for library donors on Thursday evening, Oct. 2, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the general sale will begin on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and continue on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The weekend's activities will start with a Bookfair Preview for library donors. If you would like to attend the Bookfair Preview on Thursday evening, and you are not yet a donor, you can become a donor at the door with a minimum gift to the library of $25. All are welcome — community members as well as book sellers and buyers. Donors are welcome to refreshments and the opportunity to purchase up to 20 books before the sale opens to the public on Friday.

The annual fall book sale will feature an enormous selection of books that have been donated to the library over the past several months.

"We have a healthy variety of Maine-themed books, loads of maritime-related subjects, an unusual assortment of Civil War-related books, and thousands of titles both fiction and nonfiction for sale," said Don White, the library's book sale chair. "Stock up for your cold weather reading! There's definitely a reason to come to downtown Camden on this first weekend in October. Great buys is just one of them!"
