Oceanside JV gets lone win on the night at Camden Hills

ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills junior varsity girls basketball team was simply out-shot and out-played in Tuesday’s matchup with rival Oceanside who cruised to a 41-21 win.

Oceanside took an 8-5 first quarter lead and exploded for a 19-2 run in the second quarter to take a 27-7 lead into the half time break. Camden turned in a nice third quarter ending the stanza at 35-17 Oceanside. The Mariners cruised through the fourth quarter for the win.

Scoring for Oceanside were Alexis Mazurek with 11 points; Elise Laslavic eight; Bri White-Ortiz six; Jenna Conant and Haley Montgomery four each; and Jillian Brooks, Gabby Simmons and Kaylee McCorrison two each.

Oceanside was 5-of-17 (29 percent) from the foul line.

For Camden Hills, Laticia Billings had eight points; Audrey Clement six; Kendra Bergelin three; and Emily Morse and Haley Simmons two each.

The Windjammers were 5-of-9 (56 percent) from the foul line.

Camden Hills will travel to Belfast Thursday, Dec. 18 for their next game while Oceanside will travel to Erskine Academy of South China Friday, Dec. 19.
