Oceanside baseball, softball top Belfast

BEFLAST — The Oceanside varsity baseball and softball programs hit the road Monday, May 21 to challenge Belfast, and both Oceanside teams returned home victorious. 

In baseball, Oceanside improved to 11-2 with the victory, while Belfast dropped to 7-6. 

In softball, Oceanside improved to 11-2 with the win, while Belfast dropped to 6-7. 

Baseball: Oceanside 5, Belfast 3

Oceanside plated one run in the first inning and four runs in the fifth, while collecting 11 hits and committing one error. 

Belfast plated two runs in the second inning and one in the fifth, while collecting 12 hits and committing an error. 

Logan Sheridan worked the mound for the Mariners and allowed three runs on 12 hits and whiffed five batters. 

At the plate for Oceanside were Michael Norton Jr (three singles, RBI), Titus Kaewthong (single, double, two RBIs) and Sheridan (single, double, two RBIs). 

At the plate for Belfast were Tyler Bartlett (three singles), Luke Hamlin (two singles), Grey Dinsmore (two singles), Dakota Payson (RBI) and Chris Kelley (two singles, two RBIs). 

Softball: Oceanside 8, Belfast 2

Oceanside plated two runs in the second inning, one in the third, four in the fourth and one in the sixth, while collecting 12 hits and committing one error. 

Belfast plated its lone two runs in the fourth inning, while collecting four hits and committing two errors. 

In the pitcher’s circle for Oceanside was Chloe Jones who fanned 11 batters and walked four. 

In the pitcher’s circle for Belfast was Brooke Richards who struck out six batters. 

At the plate for Oceanside were Jones (three singles, RBI), Casey Pine (triple), Abby Veilleux (two doubles), Grace Woodman (two singles, RBI), Adrianna Whitamore (single, RBI), Rachel Joyce (single), Jessica Watkinson (single) and Hannah Robinson (single). 

At the plate for Belfast were Kayci Faulkingham (two singles), Richards (single, RBI), Macy Gale (single) and Karagan Stone (RBI). 

“Things are coming together for this young team and we will continue to work at our game as we get ready for Camden on Wednesday and Lincoln Academy on Friday,” said Oceanside head coach Rusty Worcester.
