Nov. 21 Busline Basketball Scoreboard

The Busline League basketball season continued Friday, Nov. 21 for middle school student-athletes. At the conclusion of Friday, schools in the large school division concluded the first week of play, while schools in the small school division concluded its second week of play.

Boys Basketball

Islesboro 55, Searsport A 41

At Islesboro, 5-foot-5 seventh-grade forward Jonathan Runnion-Bareford had a career-high 25 points, including 12 in the first quarter, 15 rebounds and 11 steals to lead the Eagles, who improved to 4-0.

Eighth-grade swingman Brett Start played all 32 minutes, as did point guard Chase Sanders.

Start had 16 points, including a 3-pointer at the third-quarter buzzer that keyed Islesboro's second-half rally. 15 of Start's points came in the second half. He also had a game-high 16 rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, seventh-grade guard Patrick Kehoe had eight points and eight rebounds.

Islesboro led 19-7 at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 26-23 at the half, due in large part to the perimeter shooting of Searsport's George Dakin, who scored his 10 points in the second quarter. Teammate Colby Snow finished with nine points.

Medomak 8th 50, Boothbay 43

The Medomak eighth grade boys basketball team improved its record to 2-0 on Friday with a victory verses a determined Boothay team.  

Every time Medomak made a scoring run, it was quickly answered by Boothbay and the Riverhawks just could not extend its lead.

Leading the scoring for Medomak were Nathan Emerson with 17 points, Alex Clevette with nine, Chris Bowman with seven and Tristan DeVault with six. Other contributors included Alden McLain (five points), Alec Coughlin (four points), Kevin White (two points). 

For Boothbay, Steve Reny scored 21 points. 

Medomak shot 7-of-12 (58 percent) from the free-throw line, while Boothbay shot 6-of-10 (60 percent) from the line. 

Girls Basketball

Searsport 33, Islesboro 24

At Islesboro, Searsport withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally and was led by Makenzie Alley's 10 points.

For Islesboro, eighth-grade center Emily Lau had 17 points, 18 rebounds, seven steals and six blocked shots. Seventh-grade forward Rylee Sienkiewicz had seven points, nine rebounds and five steals before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Seventh-grade point guard Ava Schlottman and seventh-grade forward Megan Wick played all 32 minutes.

Schlottman had four steals and three rebounds.

Camden-Rockport 7th 41, Oceanside Blue 7th 16

Scoring for Camden-Rockport were Emmi Wood (14 points), Audrey Bowman (10 points), Logan Craney (five points), Sophie Ernest (four points), Kristin Whitney and Danni Cayouette (two each).

Scoring for Oceanside Blue were Molly Gould (six points) and Nicole Ladd, Mia Blumenthal, Audrey Young, Alexa Hollowell and Paige Nystrom (two each). 

The Schoooners shot 5-of-11 (46 percent) from the free-throw line, while the Mariners shot 2-of-10 (20 percent). 

Camden-Rockport lead 12-5, 25-9 and 36-14 at the quarter breaks. 

"After a sluggish game [versus] Boothbay on Wednesday, the team came out today with a clearer focus and intensity on what [their] responsibilities are on the court,” said Schooners head coach Tim Gallagher.”

Oceanside Blue 8th 61, Camden-Rockport 8th 29
