Norman Lee Peabody, obituary

Norman Lee Peabody, 84, died peacefully at his home in Warren on September 29, 2017. He was born March 24, 1933 in Rockland to Leland and Blanche (Fullerton) Peabody. He grew up in Warren and attended local schools. He graduated from Warren Academy. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Donna Peabody on June 11, 1955.

Norman was a heavy duty equipment operator. He worked at Wallace's Garage in Warren, State of Maine Highway Department, and Ferraiolo's Construction. He dug many ponds in the area including Tolman Pond, and Appleton Ridge Pond, he built many roads, constructed the ball field in Warren behind the fire department and also the exit road out of the Union Fair. Norman did a lot of work for Jim Rockefeller building airport runways, ponds, riding trails over the years and many other projects across the mid coast.

Norman was a Boy Scout leader in Warren, plowed snow in the winter, and being on the water boating. He also enjoyed wood-working, maintenance around the farm and mowing the lawn. He was predeceased by his first wife, Donna Peabody, who died in 1993, and by a daughter, Norma Kaye Peabody (1959).

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Peabody of Warren, son, Roger Peabody of Warren, granddaughter, Kaye (Peabody) Nisbet and her husband Ryan of Warren
step-children, Christopher Cousins of Camden, Katherine Strout and husband Paul of Warren and Miranda Sternberg and husband Tim of Owls Head as well as several cousins.

Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street in Waldoboro. The service to celebrate Norman's life will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Warren Baptist Church, 166 Main Street, in Warren with Rev. Dr. Linwood Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Warren.
