New pilates studio opens at Lincoln Street Center, Rockland

Wed, 10/12/2016 - 10:00pm

CenterPilates, owned by classically-trained Lorie Hoyt Nguyen, is a fully equipped Pilates studio now open at the Lincoln Street Center, Room 18. Having eight years of teaching experience, Nguyen opened CenterPilates in August. She offers multiple weekly mat classes, as well as private, duet or trio sessions available by appointment.

Pilates is a series of efficient, resistance training exercises that are safe for anyone, beginner to elite athletes, to practice and can be done using a yoga mat or using spring-based apparatuses. Practicing and using the six principles: concentration, control, centering, flow, breathing and precision, Pilates promotes increased muscle flexibility and strength, improved posture, balance, and body alignment.

CenterPilates will hold an open house Wednesday, October 19, with a free 30-minute mat class in the Lincoln Street Center Auditorium from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by snacks and beverages, provided by Molly O’Rourke’s One & Sup, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at CenterPilates, room 218. Take a yoga mat for class.
