New hires at MRC, Dream Local, Allen Insurance, Pen Bay, and Children’s House

    Allen Insurance and Financial hires new employee for Camden's Chestnut Street office: Kimberly Edgar of Lincolnville has joined Allen Insurance and Financial as an account manager in the insured benefits division.

    A graduate of Empire State College in Hartsdale, N.Y., Edgar has 13 years of experience managing health and ancillary insurance policies for hospitals and physicians offices in New York. Her role at Allen is similar; she will be providing customer service and sales support for both health insurance and ancillary group benefits.

    "I love client interaction and building strong relationships through out the process," said Edgar, in a press release. "I truly enjoy educating consumers about the financial market of health and ancillary benefits."

    She will be based in the company's Chestnut Street office in Camden.

    Edgar lives in Lincolnville with her husband and son and their two rescue dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, preferably near the ocean.

    Pen Bay Healthcare hires two for surgery and wound care

     

    ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Healthcare has hired Thomas Crosslin, III, M.D., and Norman Keller, PA-C, for the Midcoast and Pen Bay Surgery and Wound Healing Center practice.

     

    Thomas E. Crosslin, III, MD, is a 2009 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in General Surgery at Tufts Medical Center. Crosslin is admissible to the American Board of Surgery with an expected completion date in early 2015.

     

    He received training in the treatment of abdominal, lung, skin and soft tissue cancers, as well as thyroid and breast disease and is will offer minimally invasive surgery of the stomach, colon, spleen and small intestine. He joined Pen Bay Surgery colleagues Julie White, M.D., Thomas O'Brien, M.D., and Gordon Paine, M.D., on August 25.

     

    Norman Keller, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant and completed his physician assistant training at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2007. Since 2007, he has been employed at Progressive Surgical Care in New Hyde Park, New York, and on staff at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

     

    Keller is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician assistants. Keller will oversee the Wound Healing Center and joins a team of certified ostomy and wound care nurses, all of whom are specially trained to address the specific needs of wound center patients.

    Dream Local Digital hires two

    ROCKLAND — ­­ Dream Local Digital has hired Abby Hilt as a marketing strategist. Hilt will be working with clients nationwide, developing online communities and building brand awareness with social media and online marketing.

    Hilt is a recent graduate of the University of Maine, with a B.A. in journalism and a minor in art history. Her interests in publishing and content creation trace back to middle school, and she's looking forward to applying her skills to help clients tell their stories online.

    In her spare time, Hilt enjoys reading books, watching far too many YouTube videos, and hanging out with her family's dog. Hilt is based in the Mid­coast and will be serving online communities from the company's headquarters in Rockland.

    Dream Local Digital also hired Edward Gaug to the team as a senior marketing strategist. Gaug will be working with businesses nationwide, developing online communities and building brand awareness with social media and online marketing. He will also be involved in the company's education program, serving as a mentor for junior strategists and assisting in strategy development and training methods for the team.

    Gaug recently moved to Maine from Connecticut, where he worked for CafePress as a social media and content coordinator. He has a background in journalism, social media, and graphic design, and has held positions at the Hartford Courant, LogoSportswear and Live Breathe Futbol.

    In his free time, Gaug enjoys spending time with his wife, Bridget, watching and playing soccer as well as discovering new craft beers. He lives in Orono and will be working in the company's head office in Rockland, and in Bangor, building and implementing social media strategies for Dream Local Digital clients nationwide.

    Mid-Coast Recreation Center hires fitness trainer

    ROCKPORT — Holly Vanorse Spicer has joined the Mid-Coast Recreation Center as a fitness trainer.  She is a graduate of Camden/Rockport area schools. She is a certified personal trainer and nutritionist who works one-on-one, in pairs (groups), and instructs fitness classes for various levels.

    Coming from a sports background and currently living a healthy lifestyle, Spicer believes that with the right tools, and proper guidance, anyone can achieve their goal of a healthier life. She believes in real people, real bodies. Her goal is to help people achieve their fitness goals within the environment that surrounds them.

    Spicer works with all ages, from high school to seniors, men and women. She specializes in pre/post natal fitness and nutrition, sports specific training and bodybuilding.

    Children's House Montessori Hires new director

    CAMDEN — Children's House Montessori School in Camden has hired Elizabeth Hannibal Drury as executive director.

    Drury comes to Children's House from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she recently earned a master's degree in school leadership with a focus on school development. Long acquainted with the independent schools in the Midcoast as a parent and board member at Spindlewood Waldorf School, Drury brings a sensitivity to the commitment families who choose independent schools make to sustain choices in education.

    Drury's interest in strengthening educational options in the Midcoast has brought her to Children's House, where she will build on the benefits of Montessori education. Long an advocate of collaborative leadership, Drury brings significant experience and a history of creative, collaborative problem solving to her new position.

    Prior to Children's House, Drury taught middle school math and science at Medomak Middle School for nine years, working to integrate alternative approaches to education in the public arena. She also holds a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology, and was co-owner of the former Hannibal's Café in Union.

    Drury has three grown sons, and now lives in South Thomaston with her husband, Creighton.
