Mushroom, acid arrest in Belfast

    BELFAST —  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said it arrested a Dover-Foxcroft man for unlawful trafficking in LSD and psilocybin mushrooms. Police arrested 25-year-old Jeremy Taylor of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine for Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Lysergic Acid) and Class C, Trafficking in Schedule X Drugs (Psilocybin)

    For the past month, agents from the MDEA Midcoast District Task Force, along with investigators from the Belfast Police Department and Knox County Sheriff’s office, conducted an investigation into the alleged illegal distribution of psilocybin mushrooms and lysergic acid (LSD) by Taylor, according to a news release from the Maine Office of Public Safety.

    On July 20, Taylor was arrested without incident when he arrived at the Belfast Hannaford’s parking lot to meet with an undercover agent to sell LSD. Police seized more than a pound of mushrooms and 100 doses of LSD. The street value of the seized drugs was $8,000.

    Police transported Taylor to the Waldo County Jail where bail was set at $5,000. He is scheduled to appear at the Waldo County Unified Court on September 19.
