A Monroe man was sentenced to six years in prison in Unified Criminal Court Nov. 28, for the sexual assault of a juvenile who had yet to reach 14 years old.

Christopher Farrar, 28, will only serve 18 months of his sentence, with the rest suspended; he will also serve four years of probation for the crime.

According to court documents, Farrar was in regular contact with the 13 year-old juvenile, including time spent downtown, and in his home. The juvenile characterized their relationship as “boyfriend and girlfriend,” and admitted there had been sexual contact.

When Farrar was later interviewed by law enforcement he initially denied any inappropriate contact with the juvenile, but ultimately admitted to sexual contact; he also admitted that he was aware of the juvenile’s age.

The terms of Farrar’s probation include completing counseling and treatment for sex offender issues, limited internet access, and a ban from having contact with any juvenile under age 17 without approval.
