WARREN — Mildred Louise Butler, 100, died March 16, 2015, at her home in Warren. Mildred was the keeper of the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of Warren. She was awarded the cane in 2008.

She was born Nov. 4, 1914, in South Thomaston, to Albert and Hanna (Haskell) Graves. She grew up in South Thomaston and started working at the age of 14.

She worked at Green Island Canning Company for many years and was very proud of the fact that she could fix and maintain the packing machines. She was also a proud homemaker who canned vegetables and sewed her family's clothes. She was very handy and enjoyed crafting, ceramics, crocheting and knitting.

She was a lifetime member of the Grace Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters and the Grange. She was also a member of the M.E.T. (Meet, Eat and Talk) Club for many years. She was the grand marshall of the Warren Day Parade.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 39 years, Rollo A. Butler; her grandson, Robert Rollo Watts; five sisters; two brothers; and one great great-grandchild.

She is survived by her two daughters, Roma Shaw of Gray and Glenda Dickinson of Warren; her grandchildren, Kerstin Watts of Union, John Watts of Warren, Thomas Shaw of Portland, Mela Shaw of Portland and Rojeana Roy of Gray; 11 great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation Friday, March 20 from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a service to celebrate Mildred's life at West Rockport Baptist Church, 545 Park St. in Rockport.

Burial will be in Village Cemetery in Thomaston in the spring.
