Middle School basketball halts for Thanksgiving break

The Busline League basketball season for middle school student-athletes has taken a break from contests for the short Thanksgiving break. 

Many teams will return to action Monday, Dec. 1. 

Following are recently reported results from Monday, Nov. 24 games.

Boys Basketball

Lincolnville 76, Great Salt Bay 31

At Great Salt Bay, the Lincolnville Lynx got out to a fast start and never looked back beating the Cougars 76-31. 

For the Lynx, Ionut Lodge netted 22 points, while Michael Kremin had 15 points, Trey Gilson and Zach Markowitz had 10 points each, Noah Lang had eight, Dawson Allen had six, Carson Whitney had three and Justin Secotte had two. 

The Cougars were led by Gus Hunt (11 points), Jacob Schroeder (six), Quincy Perry and Nolan Michael (four each), Charlie Sleeman, Colby Clark and Eric Harvey (two each). 

Troy Howard 70, Oceanside White 7th 38

Scorers for Troy Howard included D. Payson (27 points), I. Cunningham (18 points), D. Abbott, C. Clark, T. Veilleux (six each), J. Bartlett (four), C. King (two) and G. Armstrong (one.)

First names were not available for Troy Howard. 

Scorers for Oceanside White included Drew Minery, Cameron Kingsbury (nine points each), Carson Murphy, Hunter Hoppe (six each), Jake Paulsen, Aaron Benner, Nick Jones and Nick Banda (two each). 

Girls Basketball

Troy Howard 45, Oceanside White 7th 32

The Oceanside White seventh-grade girls team traveled to Belfast and fell to Troy Howard 45-32.

Scorers for Oceanside were Chloe Simmons (14 points), Hannah Benner (eight), Sadie Davis (six) and Savannah Senay (two). 

Boothbay 40, Oceanside Blue 8th 22

“The girls played hard-nosed defense, but could not effectively penetrate the home team's defense,” said Oceanside head coach Dan McNichol.
