June 30: Messalonskee 1, Midcoast 1 [Suspended]

At Thomas College in Waterville June 30, Midcoast traveled up to battle Messalonskee, but the game didn't go exactly as planned.

The game was suspended in the top of the sixth inning when Midcoast's Nick Mazurek was hit by a pitch and injured. Manager Bob Wolff attempted to substitute a player who was already substituted out of the game and was told by game officials it is against league rules to do so.

Therefore, his team would have to forfeit since they had no other players to fill in for Mazurek. However, the Zone 1 commissioner over-turned the decision and the game is now recorded as suspended until the two can meet again Monday, July 13 in Waldoboro. The contest will begin at 4 p.m. where the team will finish the nine inning battle and then play the regularly scheduled seven inning contest.

Leading the offense for Midcoast, thus far, were Audrey Pennington (single, run) and Mazlin Higbee (single).

Leading the offense for Messalonskee, thus far, were J. Wilklie (single) and J. Dexter (run).
