Midcoast Babe Ruth League Roundup - July 1

ROCKPORT – The hits keep coming and the games are getting played as the regular season for the local Babe Ruth league are coming to a close this week with playoffs slated for next week.

Tuesday saw a trio of games being played with Waldo County, Rockland Cafe and Swan Lake Grocery picking up wins.

Game Results
Waldo County 10, Rockport 5… at Rockport the Waldo County team continued to dominate it’s opponents earning another win to take them to 8-1 on the season. Rockport falls to 3-5.

Waldo County took a first inning 4-1 lead and never looked back. The scored four runs in the first inning, one in the third, fifth and sixth and three in the seventh. Rockport plated one in the first and second innings, two in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Riley Boulay Cole Frey, Isaiah Runci and Andrew Savoy pitched for Waldo County allowing five runs on seven hits and five walks with one strikeout.

Jessie Frazier took the mound for Rockport and went five innings allowing six runs, three earned on four hits and three walks while striking out four. Mike Kremlin pitched the final two innings allowing four runs on three hits and four walks while striking out two.

Offensively for Waldo County Joey Danna (single, run, 3 SB), Dean Grass (4 singles, 4 runs, 5 SB RBI), Colby Furrow (double, run), Emmett Shell (single, 2 runs, 2 SB), Even Thomas (2 runs, 2 SB), Boulay (single, double, RBI) and Runci (single).

For Rockport, Michael Russillo (run), Kremlin (double), Fraser (2 single, run), Kerry Sabanty (single, 2 SB), Jacob Knowlton (2 singles, run), Nathan Levig (run), Tristin Black (run) and Ben Wells (single).

Rockport will host Rockland Cafe and Swan Lake will host Waldo County Wednesday, July 1.

Rockland Cafe 10, Damariscotta Lake 5… at Thomaston the Rockland Cafe Babe Ruth team hosted Damariscotta Tuesday night sending them pacing with a 10-5 loss.

Rockland scored four runs in the fist inning, one in the second, third and fifth and three in the sixth inning. Damariscotta scored two in the first, one in the second and two in the third.

Jack Freeman, Trevor reed and Michael Norton pitched for Rockland Cafe allowing five runs on eight hits for the win while Damariscotta used Matt Leeman and Gus Hunt on the mound where they allowed 10 runs on 10 hits.

Offensively for Rockland Cafe, Hunter Davis (2 singles, 2 runs, 3 stolen bases), Trevor Reed (run), Ben Poland (run, stolen base), Michael Norton (3 singles, 2 runs, RBI, 3 stolen bases), Matt Waldron (single, double, run, RBI), Josh Peaco (single, run, RBI, stolen base), Nicholas Crawford-Crudell (single, RBI, stolen base), and Abe LeMole (single, run, RBI).

For Damariscotta, Jacob Maker (run), Quincy Perry (2 singles, run, 2 stolen bases), Hunt (run), Bradley Cross (single, 2 RBIs), Basil White (single, run), Jon Pinkham (run), Christopher Sullivan (2 singles, stole base), Oakley Oliver (single) and Eric Harvey (single).

Rockland will travel to Rockport and Damariscotta will travel to Wiscasset Bay for games Wednesday, July 1.
