Midcoast Babe Ruth all-star baseball teams announced

THOMASTON — The coaches of the eight Midcoast Babe Ruth League teams have selected the players that will represent the league in the upcoming 14-year-old and 15-year-old District 2 all-star tournaments. Both tournaments will be played from Thursday, July 6 through Sunday, July 9 at the Oceanside High School Field in Thomaston.

The Midcoast 14-year-old all-stars include Jonah Carlson and Joey Curtis from Georges Valley, Tim Farrelly and Nathan Coombs from Rockland Ford, Ethan Reed and Clayton Belcher from Waldoboro, Adam Sirios and Joel Pitcher from Damariscotta Lions, Brandon Cournoyer and Dylan Abbott from Penobscot Bay Dentistry, True Crane and Jason Greenleaf from Granite Coast Orthodontics, Sam Moody and Aiden Schecter from P.G. Willey. Brian Second from Rockland Ford will serve as the team’s manager while Matthew Shields of Georges Valley and Tim Moody from P.G. Willey will be the team’s assistant coaches. 

The Midcoast 15-year-old all-stars include Cole Stevens from Georges Valley, Ben Ripley and Karl Ilvonen from Rockland Ford, Duncan Widdecombe and Wyatt Fillmore from Union Farm Equipment, Darius Pierpoint and Carson Murphy from Waldoboro, Quincy Perry, Tiger Cummings, Chase Crockett and Joseph Giberson from Damariscotta Lions, Luke Hamlin, Dakota Payson and Max Lewis from Penobscot Bay Dentistry and Bennett Geis from Granite Coast Orthodontics. Chris Perry from Damariscotta Lions will serve as the team’s Manager while Kurt Payson from Penobscot Bay Dentistry will be his assistant.

The two squads will play an exhibition game against each other Sunday, July 2 at 1 p.m. 

The Midcoast 14s will begin district play July 6 at 9 a.m. against Central Maine. Augusta and Apple Valley are also participating in the double elimination tournament. The Midcoast 15s will begin district play July 6 at 2:15 p.m. against Coastal North. Augusta, Apple Valley and Coastal West are also participating in the double elimination tournament. Winners from both tournaments will advance to the state tournament to be played in Augusta starting Thursday, July 13.
