AUGUSTA — After going 1-2 with a victory over Apple Valley and two losses to Augusta in district action, the Midcoast 14s Babe Ruth all-star baseball team is in Augusta this weekend for the state tournament.

The pool play schedule for Midcoast includes a 9:30 a.m. contest against Portland Saturday, July 15 and a Sunday, July 16 doubleheader against South Portland at 11 a.m. and Augusta at 4:30 p.m. The championship, pitting the two teams with the best state tournament records, will be held Monday, July 17 at 4:30 p.m.

Tri-County plated one run in the second and two in the third while Midcoast plated its lone run in the seventh.

At the plate for Midcoast: Obie Miller (run), Jason Greenleaf (single, RBI), Adam Sirios (single) and Nate Coombs (triple).
