Coach Gendron to host meet and greet May 20

Meet University of Maine’s Red Gendron at Owls Head Transportation Museum

OWLS HEAD — On Wednesday, May 20, University of Maine men’s ice hockey head coach Dennis "Red" Gendron will visit the Owls Head Transportation Museum and host a meet and greet starting at 2 p.m. in the OHTM Auditorium. 

Coach Gendron will discuss University of Maine hockey, the future goals of the program and answer questions from fans. 

Coach Gendron is entering his third season at the helm of the Black Bears and has won two NCAA Division I championships as an assistant at the University of Maine and Yale University, as well as two NHL Stanley Cups as an assistant with the New Jersey Devils. He also coached at the University of Massachusetts, Bellows Free Academy in Vermont and was the head coach and general manager of the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League. 

In his time with the Devils, he not only was an assistant with the pro team, but also coached the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League, hockey’s minor league, and was a scout for the team. 

Coach Gendron has guided eight USA hockey teams, including the U.S. National Junior team on three occasions. 

Admission for the meet and greet is free but regular admission rates apply to view the museum.

Along with his passion for hockey, Coach Gendron shares a great enthusiasm for history and is excited to visit the Owls Head Transportation Museum.
