Medomak Valley Land Trust to offer Scholarships to DRA’s Camp Mummichog

Mon, 03/27/2017 - 1:00pm

For the first time this year, in partnership with Damariscotta River Association, the Medomak Valley Land Trust is offering a limited number of half scholarships to DRA’s summer day camp, Camp Mummichog. The scholarship will be available to families living in Waldoboro, Friendship, or Washington.

Camp Mummichog is a nature-adventure day camp held the last week of June through the third week of August for children ages five to 19. There are weekly sessions for specific ages and focused on specific themes, and many sessions include field trips. There is also a Councilor-in-Training program for youth ages 13 and over. The camp offers natural science education through hands-on learning in a fun, supportive environment. This year campers will explore forests, marshes, and fields and unravel some of nature's mysteries.  Camp Mummichog subscribes to the principle of full inclusion regardless of creed, color, national origin or handicap.

To sign up for a camp and to request a scholarship, simply follow the registration procedures on DRA's website. There is no special application process for the MVLT scholarship; entering one’s address is all that is needed to trigger eligibility for MVLT's scholarships. Registration is online at http://www.damariscottariver.org/events-programs/camp-mummichog/.

Medomak Valley Land Trust has been working for more than 25 years to promote and preserve the natural, recreational, and scenic character and the traditional land-uses of the Medomak River watershed.
