The Camden Hills girls lacrosse team beat Winslow 13-10 on a blustery afternoon before a large thunderstorm hits. It was a very exciting game with lots of energy in the air and senior supporters in the crowd.

The first half was neck and neck, one point difference all the way towards half time, when Camden Hills made a slight advance.

Sara Schaefer in goal held strong against Winslow attack with a total of 15 saves on the books, plus more off record. She was steady and quick, and much of our success of the game was because of her. Defense protected the cage really well, Matlack and Brownawell held strong, Contento subbed in for a missing defensive starter, and Gutheinz played well all around the field. Camden Hills is so lucky to have such strong defensive minded players this year.

Midfielders Katherine Orne, Hannah Wincklhofer dominated the play. They both fouled out of the game for two minutes each and while they sat out, freshmen Olivia Powers, senior Macy Buck, and sophomore Emily Bowen stepped up and filled in holes. They were seamlessly working together, making very nice passes which lead to quick goals. Orne and Wincklhofer have been a dynamic duo in the midfield all season, and when Wincklhofer was out for her foul as well as a minor injury Orne took over exceptionally well.

Attack players Bella Fischer, Willow Grinnell, and Emily Daggett all had goals and put on their wheels for a speedy offense. I was very happy for Bella as it was her last home game in her high school career.
