HOPE – Marion E. Merrifield, 83, died Aug. 4, 2015, at Pen bay Medical Center in Rockport, following an extended illness.

Born in Washington on Dec. 13, 1931, she was one of five children of LaForest and Hattie Creamer Linscott. She was educated in local schools.

She married Harry “Slim” Merrifield in Camden, after which they made their home on South Hope most of their married lives. From 1964 to 1973, they lived in Camden but returned to South Hope.

For more than 40 years, Marion worked at area fish processing plants where she enjoyed the friendships of many co-workers. After retiring, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.

She loved playing beano, visiting with many friends, sewing and hooking rugs. Marion was a long time member of both the South Hope and Glen Cove granges and the Union and Washington Senior Citizen groups.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was predeceased by one sister, Ruby Bates. She is survived by her children, Douglas V. Merrifield and his wife, Cynthia, of Hope, and Michael L. Merrifield and his wife, Cindy, of Rockport; four grandchildren, Jonathan Merrifield of Florida, Jessie Johnson of Waldoboro, Matthew Merrifield and his wife, Andrea, and Alexander Merrifield and his fiance, Dale Winsper, all of Hope; six great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Samuel, Gage, Landon, Drake and Carter; and three sisters, Joyce Linscott of Union, Annette Porter of Rockland and Arlene Crabtree of Hope.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. at Hope Grove Extension Cemetery in Hope. The Rev. Susan Stonestreet will officiate.
