ROCKLAND — Marion L. Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully July 25, 2014, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, from complications of pneumonia.

She was born in Rockland on Nov. 27, 1921, the daughter of Herman H. and Edna G. Johnson Graves. At a young age she moved to Clark Island, and was educated in St. George schools.

She married Albert Ausplund in 1942 and they had one daughter, Cindy. They divorced in 1954, but remained friends until he passed away in November 2004.

On Aug. 14, 1976, she married Arthur O. Johnson Sr. at Owls Head. They made their home in Rockland until early 2010, at which time they moved to Windward Gardens in Camden.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed doing crafts, including sewing. She had a large doll collection, and enjoyed making clothes for them and displaying them throughout her home.

At one time she had an in-home answering service that included working for FISH, a volunteer group that offered needed rides to clients without transportation.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Rockport Congregation.

Other than her husband, who passed away in June 2010, she was predeceased by two sisters, “baby” Alice Graves and Virginia Ausplund.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Norton and her husband, Bob, of Rockland; as well as ten step-children and their families: Brenda Perkins, Arthur O. Johnson Jr., Pam Harrington and her husband, Lee, Cindy Mudgett and her husband, Chris, Ricky Johnson and his wife, Stephanie, Bruce Johnson, Sharon Nickles and her husband, Ron, Steve Johnson, Mark Johnson and his companion, Vicky Gower, and Denise Poirier and her husband, John. She is also survived by her many friends and care-givers at Windward Gardens in Camden.

At her request, no services will be held; burial will be at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
