SIDNEY — The Mariners 14-and-under travel softball team swept the competition at the Patricia Manzo Diabetes Foundation softball tournament in Sidney July 26 and 27.  

The Mariners, consisting of players from the Oceanside and Vinalhaven school districts, dominated pool play on Saturday with three victories; all mercy-rule victories.

The Mariners earned a semifinal victory on Sunday with a 13-1 victory to send them to the championship game against the Midcoast Blue Devils, which consisted of players zoned for Medomak Valley. 

In the championship contest, the Mariners topped their fellow Midcoast girls 11-2 in five innings.
