FOLLOW-UP: Marine Patrol searching waters beneath Penobscot Narrows Bridge

    The search was suspended Monday, June 26, according to Maine Dept. of Marine Resources spokesman Jim Nichols. Nothing was found after three days with boats, airplane and shoreline searches. The area in the vicinity of the bridge will be monitored during routine patrols.


    BUCKSPORT — The Maine Marine Patrol this morning is searching the waters beneath the Penobscot Narrows Bridge after a report of an abandoned vehicle on the bridge.

    The Marine Patrol received the report at approximately 6 a.m., June 23, and began searching shortly after 7 a.m. The report indicated that the vehicle was discovered at approximately 3:30 a.m.

    Maine State Police are investigating this incident, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Marine Resources.
