Marie F. Kavanagh, obituary

 ROCKLAND – Marie F. Kavanagh, 63, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at South Portland Nursing Home, following a brief illness. 

Born in Rockland, May 5, 1954, she was the daughter of Ernest J. Kavnagh, Sr. and Alice Molloy Kavanagh.  Marie attended local schools and was a graduate of Rockland High School.

Marie took pride in participating in the Special Olympics. 

She worked a brief time at McDonalds in Rockland.

Marie could often be found walking around town and her jovial, sweet spirit, connected with many.   

She enjoyed word search puzzles, knitting, reading and writing long letters.  She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and thoroughly enjoyed watching Rockland City Council meetings.  Marie also was a huge fan of Elvis Presley and had many of the movies.

Marie was a communicant of St. Bernards Catholic Church. 

Marie was predeceased by her parents, and a brother Kevin E. Kavanagh.   She is survived by five siblings, Colette Mathieson and her husband James of Old Orchard Beach, John J. Kavanagh and his wife Theresa of Owls Head, Theresa Kavanagh of Rockland, Ernest ‘Ernie’ J. Kavanagh, Jr. of Rockland, Kimberley Young and her husband Christopher of Owls Head; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.  The Reverend Robert Vaillancourt will officiate.  Spring interment will be in Coughlin Memorial Cemetery, Rockland.
