LINCOLNVILLE — Margareth D. Rankin, 74, passed at home with family around her, as she finished her fight with cancer and left us in her sleep.

Margareth was a strong, intelligent, talented wife, mother and grandmother. She was known to do the electrical work when needed in the home and bought books when necessary, for instruction in replacing things like the water pump in her car.

A woman of Faith, she raised her children to fear the Lord and talked with her family about the Promises until the day she died.

Margareth was married to Robert R. Rankin for 57 years.

Margareth was predeceased by her parents, James and Corinne Duxbury; her son, David H Rankin; her grandson, Matthew D Rankin; her son-in-law, Michael JC Carlson; and her in-laws, Rea and Maxine Rankin.

She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Rankin; her children, Robert J. Rankin and Mark R. Rankin, all of Lincolnville, Michael K Rankin of Wisconsin, William D. Rankin of Lincolnville, and Diane M. Carlson of Washington; five grandchildren, Meahgan A. McKee-Beck and her husband, Bill, Virginia M. Dorr and her husband, Todd, Benjamin S. Rankin and his wife, Amanda, Robert W. Rankin, and Maxine J. Hynes and her husband, Kenneth; nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Elise, Bentley, Maddie, Jackie, Brayden, Kaylah and Brysen; three sisters, Patricia Kelly of Lincolnville, Ruth Duxbury of Florida, and France Jordan and her husband, Barry, of Rhode Island; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A reception with food and fellowship will follow at 104 Limerock, adjacent to the funeral home.
