CAMDEN — Margaret R. Talbot, 101, died peacefully on April 14, 2017, just a few months shy of her 102nd birthday,  at The Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Calais on July 4, 1915, she was the daughter of William O. and Hattie Fleming Redding. She was educated locally, graduating from Calais High School.

Following graduation, Margaret married her sweetheart, Frederick Alan Talbot, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada. Together they eventually settled in Rockland, where they raised their family. During this time, Margaret was employed as a clerk at Sylvania.

A talented musician, she was involved with three area churches over the years, serving as organist, pianist and choir director. Most recently she has been an active member of the Rockland Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. Each year she gave of her time and talents, making a special quilt for the church raffle. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters for many years.

For the past few years, Margaret has resided at 63 Washington Street in Camden. There she made many friends and enjoyed daily activities. Her family said they are extremely grateful for the wonderful care and companionship she received from the staff and residents there.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her husband in 1989; a son, Robert W. Talbot Sr. in 2010; a daughter, Sallee Talbot McShane in 2009; and a granddaughter, Ann Speedy; Margaret is survived by her son, Ted N. Talbot and his wife, Shirley, of Rockland; a daughter-in-law, Josephine “Jo” Talbot of Rockland; her grandchildren, Lynn Talbot, Robert “Bob” Talbot Jr. and his spouse, James, Paula McShane, and Bob McShane; a grandson-in-law, Butch Speedy; her great-grandchildren, Jana, Chad, Tristan, Jackson, Jason and Bradley; and one great-great-grandson, Finn.

Margaret will be laid to rest privately beside her husband in Calais.
