Man accused of threatening to kill woman, burn down house remains in jail

    ROCKLAND — A Friendship man remains in jail after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman and her children and burn down their house.

    Jonathan J. Sevon, 43, was arrested Sept. 17 by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing and criminal threatening.

    Sevon appeared in Knox County Unified Court for a hearing on Sept. 18. Judge Susan Sparaco set his bail at $5,000 cash.

    He has two previous convictions for domestic violence assault in 2009 and 2016.

    According to the affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a complaint at a residence in Friendship. The victim told police that Sevon threatened to kill her and her children and would burn down the house with them in it.

    Police said that Sevon resisted arrest. After he was secured inside the police cruiser, he spat several times and banged his head on the cage window, police said.

    Sevon was transported to the Knox County Jail in Rockland where he remains as of Sept. 24.

    He will appear in court again on Oct. 26.
