MORRILL — Malcolm Colby Place, 88, passed away May 19, 2016, at Waldo County General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 26, 1928, the son of the late Charles and Nellie (Brewster) Place.

Mac loved being in the woods, hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed playing golf. He was a World War II veteran and served in Germany. He was a lifelong member of Quantabacook Lodge in Searsmont.

Malcolm was predeceased by a son, Roger Wayne Place; and is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Priscilla (Gelo) Place; a daughter, Ramona Marden and her husband, Michael, of Morrill; two sons, Timothy and his wife, Beth, of Verona Island, and Jamie and his wife, Sandra, of Morrill. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad, Timmy, Joseph, Stephanie, Liza, Amanda and Danny; and five great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Beatrice Thompson; and a brother, Royce Place, both of Morrill.

At Mac's wishes, there will be no service or visiting hours.

A special thank you goes to his private physician, Dr. James Delehanty, Private HomeCare and Hospice of Waldo County, for all their assistance and comfort to the family.
