Maine State Police Troop D beat

Warrants, operating under the influence, speeding

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity May 10-17. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary.

    An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    May 10

    Trooper Klayton Peckham responded to a single vehicle crash in Albion. The operator, Kathleen Bruns, 52, was arrested for operating under the influence (drugs) and driving to endanger.

    Trooper's Bethany Robinson and Thomas Bureau stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 3 in China. The operator, James Hamilton, 19, of South China, was issued summonses for operating under the influence, sale and use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a usable amount of marijuana and operating without a license.

    Trooper Bureau responded to the parking lot of Unity House of Pizza in Unity where he was approached by concerned customers. The customers reported that three men were heavily intoxicated and about to get in a vehicle and drive away. Upon arrival Trooper Bureau confronted the men, identified as Scott Hart, 44, Mark Hart, 40, and Tracy Kaufmann, 46. Scott Hart had a warrant for his arrest and was reportedly uncooperative before being taken to Waldo County Jail.

    May 11

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney located Walter Pittman, 35, of Freedom, after acting on a tip that led to a residence in Freedom. Pittman had three warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody and transported to Waldo County Jail without incident.

    Troopers Nicolas Gleeson and Niles Krech responded to the intersection of Collins Road and Hankerson Road in Chelsea. Law enforcement had received reports that a woman was parked there, drinking beer and attempting to drive the vehicle away. The woman was reportedly unable to actually leave the scene due to impairement. The driver, Casey Kimball, 35, of Randolph, was still in the running vehicle when troopers arrived. She was ultimately arrested for operating under the influence.

    May 13

    Trooper Corey Smith charged Tiffany Hart, 26, of Waldo, with criminal speeding.
