Maine State Police Troop D beat

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity June 3-23. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    June 3

    Trooper Evan Teel stopped a vehicle traveling 81 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 7 in Jackson. Vanessa Gallant, 25, of Jackson was subsequently summonsed for criminal speeding.

    Trooper Donald Webber responded to a report of harassment on Plains Road in Litchfield. The complainant reported multiple motorcycles driving slowly by their home while staring at the complainant in a menacing manner. As a result, Urban Blaisdell, 39, was given trespass and harassment orders.

    Trooper Webber engaged in the pursuit of a GMC truck in Litchfield. The truck, which was determined to be stolen, fled from Webber by traveling down a road only accessible with four-wheel drive. The truck was found hours later and returned to its owner. The investigation is ongoing.

    Troopers Adam McNaughton and Elisha Fowlie arrested John P. Stevens, 47, of Augusta, for felony theft and violating conditions of probation.

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 139 in Unity, where it was ultimately determined that the driver, Deborah Bryand, 52, of Waterville, was operating with a suspended license. Bryand was summonsed for the offense.

    Trooper Thomas Bureau responded to the report of a theft on Bangor Road in Troy, where the complainant said a 4-foot-tall lighthouse statue had been stolen from their yard during the night. The complainant valued the statue at $100. The investigation is ongoing.

    June 4

    Trooper Desiree Wuthenow responded to the report of a stolen 2002 Honda Accord in Unity. Trooper Corey Smith later found the vehicle in Burnham and charges are pending.

    Trooper Wuthenow received a report of burglary on Bailey Road in Thorndike. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Corey Smith stopped a vehicle traveling on South Horseback Road in Burnham for criminal speeding. It was determined that the operator, Joshua Locke, 24, of Unity, had a suspended license and that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. Locke was ultimately charged with receiving stolen property, criminal speeding, possession of a useable amount of marijuana, sale and use of drug paraphernalia, operating after suspension, operator possessing an open alcohol container and a seat belt violation.

    Trooper Erin Ball responded to the report of a single vehicle accident in which the vehicle had rolled over on Old Lewiston Road in West Gardiner. The driver reported swerving to avoid an animal and overcorrecting the vehicle. No injuries reported.

    Trooper Christopher Rogers responded to the report of a car traveling at a high rate of speed on I-295. Trooper Rogers received a second complaint before locating the vehicle in West Gardiner. The operator increased their speed to 93 mph before they were stopped. Van Ames, 36, was ultimately arrested for the offense.

    June 5

    Trooper Rogers responded to the report of a burglary at Karma Hair Salon on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale. Following an investigation, Jonathan Kelley-Emery, 20, was arrested by Trooper Mark Ferreira on a warrant and Kelley-Emery was re-arrested for burglary.

    Trooper Rogers responded to the Orchard Park Apartments on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for a criminal mischief report. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock responded to the report of a vehicle being burglarized at the Unity Lake boat landing in Unity. Two complainants reported their vehicles had been broken into and the investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Mark Ferreira summonsed Steven Chaput, 37, of West Gardiner, for theft. This was the result of Chaput pawning his landlord's stereo while the landlord was on vacation.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Route 9 in Chelsea for expired inspection and registration. Further investigation revealed the operator, Ginni Labree, 39, of Gardiner, was operating with a revoked license. Labree was arrested for operating after revocation.

    Trooper Kyle Pelletier investigated a criminal mischief complaint on Hill Street in Farmingdale, where the complainant reported the windows of his vehicle had been broken during the night. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 139 in Unity Plantation. It was ultimately discovered that the operator, Holly Chadbourne, 36, of Palermo, was operating with a suspended license and she was summonsed for speeding and operating after suspension.

    Trooper Sweeney stopped a motorcycle for operating erratically on Barker Road in Troy. The operator, Brent Nichols, 39, was unsteady on his feet and had an odor of alcohol and he was arrested for operating under the influence.

    Troopers Ball and Webber responded to the report of a possible assault and a threat of suicide in Farmingdale.

    Trooper Ball responded to the report of a theft from Blaine Road in Farmingdale. The investigation continues.

    June 6

    Trooper James MacDonald stopped a vehicle for a seat belt violation on Main Street in Unity. The operator, Joseph Reynolds, 26, was ultimately charged with operating without a license and giving a false date of birth.

    Trooper Ferreira summonsed Joseph Hart, 27, of Chelsea for providing a false statement. The statement was given during a domestic violence incident that happened May 25 in Chelsea.

    Trooper Niles Krech stopped a vehicle in Litchfield for not having its headlights on when the windshield wipers were in use. As a result of the stop Devon Hamel, 19, was summonsed for sale and use of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. The passenger in the vehicle, Rhovon Anderson, 18, was summonsed for possession of a useable amount of marijuana.

    June 7

    Trooper Pelletier investigated a report of criminal mischief on Hallowell-Litchfield Road in West Gardiner. The complainant stated that her car was shot by a BB gun while driving past a residence. The complainant refused to cooperate with prosecution after an agreement was reached to repair the damage to the vehicle.

    June 8

    Trooper Robert Cejka stopped a vehicle on Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick for an inspection sticker violation. Further investigation lead to Tammy Condon, 43, being summonsed for attaching false plates.

    Trooper Cejka stopped a vehicle on I-295 in Brunswick that was dragging a piece of the underside of the car, resulting in sparks. Following the stop Louis Malloy, 27, was summonsed for operating with passengers in possession of open alcohol containers. A passenger in the vehicle, Robert Luke, 26, was summonsed for possession of a useable amount of marijuana.

    Trooper Bureau stopped David E. Clemons, 23, for a traffic violation on Route 139 in Unity. Clemons was ultimately summonsed for possession of a useable amount of marijuana, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and a seat belt violation.

    Trooper James Leonard stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 32 in Jefferson and arrested Gary Beverage on a warrant.

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Waldo for failure to stop at a stop sign. Further investigation revealed the driver, Kevin Wood, 27, of Brooks, was operating with a suspended license and had three warrants for his arrest. Wood was taken into custody and also charged with operating after suspension.

    Trooper Smith investigated a report of theft in Freedom.

    June 9

    Trooper Smith and K9 Freyja aided the Waldo County Sheriff's Office with a search for a woman suffering from dementia who had walked away from a home in Northport. The woman was tracked and located, wet and weak as a result of her having crawled through a swampy area across from her summer home. The woman was returned unharmed.

    Trooper Smith responded to the report of a mailbox being damaged by a vehicle on Fort Knox Road in Prospect. Both the mailbox and a newspaper box were destroyed and the operator did not contact law enforcement or the owners of the damaged property.

    Trooper Greg Stevens responded to a complaint of an unwanted person on Wiscasset Road in Pittson. The complainant stated his son had damaged a screen door while kicking in the main door of the residence. The complainant refused to press charges and reported just being concerned his son may need to be transported to a hospital for evaluation.

    Trooper Ball stopped a vehicle on Route 126 in Litchfield for speeding. The operator, Jeanette Ryerson, 46, of Gardiner, was found to be operating with a suspended license and was summonsed for the offense.

    June 9

    Trooper Bureau responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash on Monroe Road in Winterport.

    Trooper Seth Allen stopped April Dupont, 34, on Route 226 in Randolph for speeding. Dupont was ultimately arrested for violating conditions of release and operating under the influence.

    Trooper James Leonard stopped a vehicle on Route 9 in Chelsea for a plate light violation. Further investigation revealed the operator, Bertram Stockford, 42, had a suspended license and he was summonsed for the violation.

    June 10

    Trooper Smith responded to the report of a burglary in Swanville.

    Trooper Ball stopped a vehicle for speeding 80 mph in a 65 mph zone on I-295 in Winthrop. The operator, Robert Hurstman, 26, of Winthrop was summonsed for speeding and his passenger, Kristopher Thomas, 40, currently from Missouri, was arrested on a Maine warrant for probation revocation.

    Trooper Wuthenow received a report of burglary on Lighthouse Road in Stockton Springs. There have been other reports of burglary in the area and the investigation is ongoing.

    Troopers Wuthenow and Wesbrock responded to a 911 call from Monroe that disconnected. Upon arrival, it was determined that a domestic assault was in progress. After further investigation Basil Littlefield III was arrested for domestic violence assault.

    June 13

    Trooper Wuthenow took a report of stolen Oxycodone in Swanville. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Bureau responded to Stevens Road in Swanville, where a mother and daughter were having a verbal argument. Both mother and daughter were issued disorderly conduct warnings.

    Trooper Leonard stopped a vehicle on Route 128 in Woolwich for a seat belt violation. Upon further investigation it was learned that the operator, Michael Emmons, 52, had a suspended license. Emmons was summonsed for the seat belt violation and operating after suspension.

    Troopers Cejka, Munzing, McNaughton and Sgt. Michael Field investigated a property damage crash on I-295 in West Gardiner. It was determined the operator had experienced a serious medical issue, which resulted in the vehicle drifting into the side of a passing tractor trailer. The driver was able to safely stop the vehicle in the break-down lane and was transported to Maine General Hospital in Augusta by Gardiner Rescue. They later died.

    Sgt. Patrick Hood and Trooper Wuthenow responded to a complaint of a family fight on West Swanville Road in Belfast. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Macdonald stopped David Flagg, 29, on Benton Road in Albion because he and his passenger were not wearing seat belts. Flagg was summonsed for the seat belt violation and sale and use of drug paraphernalia; his passenger received a seat belt violation.

    Trooper Macdonald took a report of an erratic operator in China. When the trooper located the vehicle in Waldoboro he stopped it for erratic operation. The driver, Deborah Miles, 57, was arrested for operating under the influence.

    June 14

    Trooper Macdonald stopped Ryan Turffs, 20, on Turner Ridge Road in Palermo after noticing his vehicle speeding and crossing the center line several times. Further investigation revealed Turffs' license was suspended and he was in possession of alcohol. Turffs was summonsed for operating after suspension and illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor.

    Trooper Smith took a report of identity theft in Winterport. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Teel stopped a vehicle on Route 69 in Winterport for an expired temporary registration plate. The operator, Randie Davis, 42, of Northport was ultimately summonsed for operating after suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

    Trooper Ferreira responded to a burglary complaint on Williams Road in Chelsea. The complainants reported several items stolen, including a 2005 Honda motorcycle, which was later recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Teel stopped a vehicle for speeding 78 mph in a 45 mph zone on Mount Ephraim Road in Searsport. The operator, Garret Swazey, 29, of Bangor, was summonsed for criminal speeding.

    Trooper Stevens responded to a subject who fell from a stationary motorcycle on Togus Road in Chelsea. Upon locating the motorcycle, Trooper Stevens determined it to have been stolen earlier in the day. The operator, John James, 48, of Chelsea, was ultimately arrested for operating under the influence and operating without a license. The investigation into the theft of the motorcycle continues.

    June 15

    Trooper Bureau responded to a report of an intoxicated pedestrian at a gas station in Winterport. Jason M. Nason, 25, was ultimately found to be in possession of a useable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and was summonsed for both offenses.

    Trooper Seth Allen investigated a hit and run accident in Randolph, but the vehicle that fled has not yet been located.

    Trooper Krech stopped a vehicle for operating erratically and speeding. Ultimately the driver, Patrick Hanley, 37, was arrested for operating under the influence.

    June 16

    Trooper Ferreira responded to four motor vehicles theft reports that occurred near the areas of Hankerson Road in Chelsea and Barber Road in Randolph. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Webber arrested Baron Thompson, 35, of Windsor, on two warrants and transported him to Kennebec County Jail.

    June 17

    Trooper Jonathan Leach responded to a burglary that occurred on Nash Road in Pittston. The investigation is ongoing.

    Troopers Sweeney, Stevens and Webber responded to a crash on Fort Knox Road in Prospect.

    Trooper Stevens stopped a vehicle for speeding on Togus Road in Chelsea. Thomas Farrin, 26, was found to be operating with a suspended status and had an active warrant for failure to appear for an operating under the influence charge. Thomas was arrested.

    Trooper Ferreira interviewed John James, 48, of Chelsea, in reference to a burglary on Williams Road in Chelsea. James was charged with felony receiving stolen property, burglary and criminal mischief.

    Trooper Ferreira concluded his investigation of five recent motor vehicle burglaries in the Randolph and Chelsea areas. Daniel Sabattis, 18, of Pittston, and Elizabeth Gray, 18, of Chelsea, were both charged with motor vehicle burglary and receiving stolen property.

    Troopers Ferreira and Pelletier responded to Dondero Road in Chelsea for a domestic violence assault. Jeffrey Eaton, 28, of Chelsea, was ultimately arrested after a brief altercation with the troopers and charged with domestic violence assault and refusing to submit to detention or arrest.

    June 18

    Troopers Teel and Bureau responded to a residence on Muskrat Farm Road in Prospect for a reported burglary. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Teel stopped Alicia Kinney, 28, of Belfast for littering from her vehicle on Route 141 in Belfast. The investigation revealed a passenger, Amy Feener, 28, also of Belfast, was in illegal possession of prescription drugs (Vicodin). Feener was charged with possession of schedule W drugs. Kinney was issued citations for littering and smoking with a newborn baby (Feener's) in the vehicle.

    Trooper Allen responded to Killdeer Point Road in China for a suspicious person. A brief investigation revealed that the suspicious person worked for the Census Bureau.

    Trooper Allen responded to a property damage crash in Albion.

    June 19

    Trooper Allen responded to a report of criminal mischief in Windsor. The investigation revealed a civil issue with the criminal mischief being unfounded.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped James Greene, 24, of Bowdoinham, on Water Street in Randolph for not wearing his seat belt. Greene's license was under suspension and he was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Troopers Wuthenow, Robert Flynn and Adam Gould arrested Joshua Locke, 24, for the burglary that occurred on the Bailey Road in Thorndike June 4, theft of a motor vehicle on Townhouse Road in Unity and for theft of drugs.

    Trooper Wuthenow took a complaint of an assault involving Jason McViegh, 40, who had a warrant out for his arrest for assault. Upon investigation, no assault had occurred and McViegh was not located at the residence.

    Trooper Wuthenow took a complaint of criminal mischief on Monroe Road in Winterport. The complainant found his tractors had been tampered with overnight. Investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Bureau stopped Justin Cunningham, 20, on Route 139 in Winterport for a defective plate light. Investigation revealed both front tires of the vehicle were bald and the steel wiring in the tires was exposed. Cunningham was summoned for the offense and the vehicle was put out of service.

    June 20

    Trooper Bureau responded to a car-deer crash on Route 1-A in Frankfort.

    Trooper Pelletier stopped Jarrod Brown, 21, on Interstate 295 in West Gardiner for speeding. An odor of burnt marijuana was coming from within the vehicle and a subsequent vehicle search revealed a usable amount of marijuana. Brown was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Allen investigated a crash with injuries involving a car and motorcycle on Route 17 in Windsor.

    Troopers Allen and Verhille investigated a crash on West Street in Gardiner. Randall Carl, 48, was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol.

    June 21

    TrooperCejka stopped to assist a vehicle out of gas on I-295 in Topsham. The investigation resulted in Michael Cummings, 35, being charged with attaching false plates on his vehicle.

    Trooper Smith received a report of theft of metal from two L.E. Meyers construction sites in Winterport; on Schoolhouse Road near the pit and at 125 Stream Rd. The case remains under investigation.

    Trooper Krech responded to Lakeview Drive in China for an unresponsive female who had overdosed. The female's mother was also found unresponsive in a separate bedroom. Rescue was called and both were transported to the hospital.

    Trooper Bureau stopped a vehicle on North Searsport Road in Frankfort for defective equipment. Trooper Bureau found drug paraphernalia in the possession of the passenger, Kyle White, 21, who was summoned for the offense.

    Trooper Bureau responded to Loggin Road in Frankfort for a suspicious person that was trying to gain entry to a residence. Investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Porter and his K-9 partner conducted a canine demonstration at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy for the Junior Trooper program.

    Trooper Ball responded to a criminal mischief complaint in Chelsea. The investigation is ongoing.

    June 22

    Trooper Ball stopped Nicholas Allen, 20, of West Gardiner, in Gardiner for a seat belt violation. Allen was cited for failure to wear his seat belt, failure to display an inspection sticker and operating after suspension.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped William Kinrade, 34, of Pittston, on Route 27 in Pittston for displaying an expired inspection sticker. Kinrade was ultimately summonsed for sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Stevens responded to J & J Lane in Pittston for a report of a recovered shotgun. The owner has not been located and the firearm was placed in the evidence locker until further leads develop.

    Trooper Stevens responded to Togus Road in Chelsea for a report of stolen tools from two sheds on the property. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Sweeney responded to Windy Hill Lane in Frankfort for an out of control juvenile damaging property.

    Trooper Rogers stopped Frederick Christman, 59, on I-295 in Gardiner for speeding 94 mph in a posted 65mph zone. Christman was subsequently charged with operating under the influence. Sgt. Hood assisted with the stop.

    June 23

    Trooper Stevens stopped a red GMC pickup truck on River Road in Chelsea for speeding. Sedgewick Armstrong, 61, who was under suspension for operating after suspension, was arrested for felony OAS and charged with speeding and failure to have a current inspection sticker.

    Trooper Porter and his K-9 partner responded to Route 7 in Jackson to assist.
