Maine Fare adds flavor to Belfast Fourth Friday Art Walk

Thu, 06/18/2015 - 3:45pm

BELFAST — In concert with Maine Fare Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27, Maine Farmland Trust has organized a number of art-full events throughout the city of Belfast.

Farmer/artist Jacinda Martinez will return to Maine Farmland Trust Gallery on Main Street for the weekend with her photographs of models clad in vegetable dresses. This pop-up show, only on display at Maine Farmland Trust Gallery during Belfast’s Maine Fare festivities and the 5:30 to 8 p.m. Fourth Friday Art Walk, will feature Martinez’ most recent work alongside images of older dresses.

There also will be samples of the actual dresses, both in the gallery and during Martinez’ sculpture garden exposé "Fashion in the Raw" — with live models — on the Maine Fare Market Grounds at Steamboat Landing Park Saturday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The sculpture garden is Martinez's first live show. Food tasting during art walk

To highlight the theme of the simultaneous Maine Fare food festival, Maine Farmland Trust and Belfast Arts have organized a special "Taste of Place" during the June art walk. Each participating Belfast gallery will offer a small taste of local food — spring vegetables, cheeses, meats, baked goods and even chocolate — from Waldo County farmers and producers. The tasting is free and open to all.
