Longtime veterinarian to speak at Lincolnville Community Library Feb. 1

Wed, 02/01/2017 - 5:15pm

LINCOLNVILLE - Veterinarian Hayden Sears will share stories from his "Thirty Touching Years" of caring for animals this Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library.

Now retired, Hayden will tell of his rich experiences tending to a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, horses, and even snakes, through his house call practice in Oregon. He will also discuss some of the challenges he faced on his daily calls throughout an area that covered a hundred-mile radius. Courting the human and animal bond was always his focus, he said, which required the use of all five senses.

Hayden earned his degree in veterinary medicine from both Oregon and Washington State Universities. One of the highlights of his professional career was being appointed to the Human Animal Bond Committee of the American Veterinary Medical Association, a position he held for three years. He and his wife, Cathy, moved to Lincolnville about two years ago.

The library is located at 208 Main Street in Lincolnville Center. For more information, call 763-4343 or e-mail questions@lincolnvillelibrary.org.
