CAMDEN — A book release party for local crime author Vicki Doudera's two latest books will be held on Thursday, April 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Crow's Nest at Cappy's Chowder House, 1 Main Street in Camden. Doudera's brand-new Darby Farr Mystery is titled "Deal Killer" and is the fifth in her series. Doudera will be available to to sign copies of this latest installment in the popular series.

Inspired by a true real estate transaction, “Deal Killer,” realtor-turned-sleuth Darby Farr arrives in the Big Apple and finds big trouble: her boyfriend Miles Porter is a suspect in the brutal stabbing of a Russian businessman. Setting out to prove his innocence, Darby discovers that Central Park Place—the luxury residence where Miles lives—is a hotbed of wealthy tenants with well-guarded secrets. One of them is Natalia Kazakova, a billionaire’s daughter and the victim’s not-so-distraught fiancée, whose investigative journalism has caught the attention of Russia’s shadowy security agency. With the looming threat of Soviet-era spies and a long list of rich and devious suspects, Darby must work fast to stop a killer who knows no bounds.

In addition, Doudera will celebrate the release of "Ice Cold: Tales of Intrigue from the Cold War," an anthology of spy-themed short stories edited by Jeffrey Deaver and Raymond Benson, the only Americans ever to pen James Bond novels. Doudera's tale "A Neighbor's Story," a chilling story set in Maine in the late 1980s, was chosen from hundreds of submissions for the anthology.

"I'm thrilled to have two books to celebrate this month," said Doudera in a news release. "I love the latest Darby and think it will keep readers guessing to the end. Being included in "Ice Cold" along with writers like Sara Paretsky, Joseph Finder, J.A. Jance and many others is a huge honor, and I'm delighted. Plus it was great fun to write a Cold War spy story!"

Refreshment will be served, and there will be a cash bar. Books will be available for purchase courtesy of Sherman's Book Store. For more information, visit
