THOMASTON — Ron Covert is a Graphic Artist turned restaurateur. He has transformed the patio of his Blue Sky Cantina on the Camden/Rockport line into a classic, festive Mexican cantina. In addition to running his business, he has volunteered countless hours this late winter and spring to paint set pieces for the production of The Music Man to be performed July 2-3 and 8-9 at Watts Hall.

Daryl Hahn, director of the production, knew of Ron's skills and inquired of his interest. Ron was willing, but had his own spring opening plans to think of, so had to work on the sets well before May. As a result, the colorful, fun-filled sets for this summer's production are essentially done. Hahn worked alongside Ron and is especially delighted by his attention to detail. Be sure to look for the clock in the church steeple! The interior of a train, the high school gym and the town library are just a few of the scenes Ron has created as a way to bring River City, Iowa, the setting of the show, to life.

Ron lives in Hope with his wife Jennifer and several dogs.
